WHAT IS
Hormone Replacement Therapy
Metabolic medicine is often described as the treatment of disease using the body’s natural biochemistry along with the most current scientific research to support the body’s optimal functioning and promote elite health of patients. It is the essentially the healing from the inside out. The word Metabolic is used because the term Metabolism refers to chemical changes in the cells of the body by which energy is provided for vital processes, and new material is combined to form new cells.
Metabolic Medicine providers specialize in functional medicine using the latest scientific research to understand the chemical processes that the body relies on to function at its best. This understanding is a study of how and why processes in the body may break down and cause problems that may lead to a variety of health problems. Providers are then able to use natural solutions to bring the body back into balance and the peak of functioning.
Our metabolism is composed of thousands of chemical processes taking place without our awareness. Our cell convert food we eat into fuel for the body and protein the body needs to function and grow. A problem in any step of the hundreds of processes the body undergoes can cause a metabolic disorder that may lead to a disease. It is therefore important for the body to have the correct food for fuel to perform these functions.
Metabolic medicine providers search for the underlying reason why someone is not feeling well: toxins in the body, deficient diet, suboptimal nutrient and even nutrition deficiencies.
Metabolic medicine providers understand that each person has a unique genetic makeup that will react differently to the environment. Providers often utilize extensive lab testing as a tool to look for optimal values rather than normal values in order to determine what is not working well for that individual. Then individualized recommendations can be made regarding what foods work best with your body and what supplements will optimize its functioning
Perhaps you think this describes all physicians, but in reality, traditional medicine uses man-made pharmaceuticals to alter the natural process of the body. These drugs prevent unwanted symptoms from being expressed, creating artificial health of sorts, rather than getting to the crux of the problems and repairing the underlying problem. This is where Bioidentical hormones come into play and may significantly help correct a metabolic problem you may have.
VITOCIN
Vitocin (“oxytocin”): a real “love drug”, Oxytocin is a hormone produced mainly by the hypothalamus and released directly into the blood via the pituitary gland. Best known for it’s role in child birth, Oxytocin plays a vital role in triggering uterine contractions. Recent research has shown that Oxytocin may have many other far- reaching effects particularly when it comes to relationships and emotional involvement.
Sometimes called the “the cuddle hormone”, Oxytocin is released in response to a variety of environmental stimuli including skin-to-skin contact and cervical stimulation experienced during sex. It promotes a bond of intimacy, closeness, and desire which increases sexual receptiveness. So, given it’s ability to generate emotional connection and sexual intimacy, Vitocin really is the nearest thing to a “love drug.”
PT-141
What is PT 141? PT-141, which is also called Bremelanotide, is a peptide developed from the hormone Melanotan II. It promotes sexual function in both men and women via interaction with the hypothalamus.
For women, PT-141 has been shown to treat hypoactive sexual desire disorder (HSDD) in premenopausal women. Those with HSDD are women who have reduced sexual desire that can cause personal distress or issues in their intimate relationships. In men, PT-141 may also help with desire, as well as some forms of erectile dysfunction, not associated with circulation issues. PT-141 targets the part of the brain that regulates sexual response.
Benefits of Added B12:
B12 deficiency can result in symptoms like fatigue, low energy, and low stamina. With these symptoms, those deficient in B12 may also experience reduced sexual desire that can further complicate or add to personal distress in intimate relationships.
PT-141 may help with the following in both men and women:
- Increased libido
- Elevated sexual gratification
- Increased sexual energy and desire
- Mood enhancement
Female Sexual Dysfunction
Persistent, recurrent problems with sexual response, desire, orgasm or pain — that distress you or strain your relationship with your partner — are known medically as sexual dysfunction.
Sexual dysfunction has many possible symptoms/causes, formulas and treatments vary. It’s important to understand the woman’s normal sexual response. Also, her goals for her sex life are important when choosing a treatment and evaluating whether or not it’s working.
Effective treatment for sexual dysfunction often requires addressing any underlying medical conditions or hormonal changes.
Female Sexual Arousal Disorder (FSAD)
Female sexual arousal disorder (FSAD) is characterized primarily by an inability to attain or maintain sufficient physical sexual arousal that causes distress or interpersonal difficulty. It is the female counterpart to ED in men.
Symptoms
Symptoms vary depending on what type of sexual dysfunction you’re experiencing:
- Low Sexual Desire- This most common of female sexual dysfunctions involves a lack of sexual interest and willingness to be sexual.
- Sexual Arousal Disorder- Your desire for sex might be intact, but you have difficulty with arousal or are unable to become aroused or maintain arousal during sexual activity.
- Orgasmic Disorder- You have persistent or recurrent difficulty in achieving orgasm after sufficient sexual arousal and ongoing stimulation.
- Sexual Pain Disorder- You have pain associated with sexual stimulation or vaginal contact.
